The short version
We don't collect, store, sell, or process any personal data. There's no database, no account system, no analytics, and no cookies set by this site. The goldfish name you type in stays in your browser and is never sent to us or anywhere else.
What happens when you use the Locator
When you type a name into the "Find My Goldfish" tool and press Locate, everything happens locally, inside your own browser:
- A random location is generated on your device.
- The name you typed is displayed back to you on the same page.
- Nothing is transmitted to our servers, because we don't have any servers processing this information. This site is a static page.
We have no way of knowing what names people enter, how often the site is used, or who is using it.
Map tiles (a note on honesty)
To show the map itself, this site loads map imagery from OpenStreetMap, a free mapping service. Loading any image from a third party works the same way as loading any image on the web: your browser makes a direct request to their servers, which means your IP address is visible to them as part of that ordinary request — the same as it would be for any website you visit that shows a map, a font, or an embedded image.
We don't receive, see, or store this information ourselves. If you'd like to understand how OpenStreetMap handles it on their end, their own Privacy Policy, maintained by the OpenStreetMap Foundation, covers that in more detail.
Cookies and tracking
We don't use cookies, analytics tools, advertising pixels, or any form of visitor tracking. There is nothing on this site monitoring your visit.
Children's privacy
This site was partly made with younger visitors in mind, so we've kept it as simple and low-risk as possible: no sign-ups, no forms asking for personal details, and nothing collected from anyone, regardless of age.
Changes to this policy
If anything about this site ever changes in a way that affects this policy (for example, if we were to add analytics in future), we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
